Tata Nano Unveils for Common People

Tata Nano Car will be unveiled for common people from 1st April 2009. Tata Motors will display Nano in showrooms before booking opens on 9th of April 2009 and continues till 25th of April 2009.

Booking Method
Tata Nano can be booked both online and offline. There is a difference in the cost of booking form for online/offline.

Who all can apply for booking Tata Nano?
Tata Nano can be ordered by Individuals / Firms / Proprietorships / Companies. All those who qualify to own a car under Motor vehicle Act can apply for the same.

Will any category be given special preference in the allotments?
No. All applicants will be treated at par.

Will Any preference be given to the Tata Group or Tata Motors employees?

When will an applicant get the Tata Nano?
If the applicant gets an allotment of Tata Nano then he would receive the car within financial year 09-10. Exact quarter of delivery would be communicated to him.

How can I know more about the Tata Nano?

Where can the booking forms be purchased?
Booking forms may be purchased from a Booking Center, please use the form to the right to locate your nearest center.

When will booking for Nano start?
Bookings will open on 9th April 2009 and will close on 25th April 2009.

Can an applicant purchase the form online and submit it physically?
No. The forms purchased online will have to be submitted online only. The forms purchased physically can be submitted physically only.

What is the cost of the booking form?
The MRP of the physical booking form is Rs. 300 payable in cash. For online applicants, the form MRP is Rs. 200 and will be included in the online payment amount.

Is the Booking Form MRP refundable?
No. The form MRP is non refundable for the applicant/applicant.But the application form has exclusive discount offers from Tata Indicom, Tata Sky & Castrol to compensate the cost of the application form.

What is Form UIN?
UIN is the Unique Identification Number that is printed on each form. In case of online application, it will be generated once the applicant submits his application. It has to be retained by applicant for all further communications regarding Tata Nano.

Is the PAN card no. mandatory?
Pan Card is mandatory for purchase of car.

Whose PAN card details are to be provided in the form?
Pan card number of the person in whose name the vehicle is being purchased is required irrespective of who is making the payment.

Can an applicant who does not have PAN card apply for Tata Nano?
Form 60/ Form 61 can be used for the cases where pan card number is not available.

Is the MICR code of the Refund account bank branch mandatory?
No, the MICR code is not mandatory.

How will refund take place if the applicant does not have the MICR code/has not filled MICR Code?
If the applicant does not provide the MICR code, the refund will be done through the physical mode i.e. Cheque / pay order.

What is the MICR Code?
MICR code is the 9 digit code printed at the bottom of your cheque. To find out MICR code of your branch you can call up the branch where you hold account to enquire about the same.

Why is it necessary to provide MICR Code?
MICR code is required for affecting refund through electronic mode which is fast and safe. It is preferred that the applicant provides this detail in case his bank has the ECS/NEFT facility.

For identity proof, which identity card will be accepted?
For identity proof, the applicant should provide the number of any of the following in the form: 1. Pan Card 2. Passport 3. Voter ID Card 4. Driving License. Any other Photo ID Proof attested by a gazetted officer shall also be accepted.

Do I have to submit Photo Id along with the application form?
Yes a copy of the photo ID proof has to be submitted with the application form

Will the same ID proof required to be shown later?
Yes. The ID proof indicated in the form has to be shown at cancellation of allotment / delivery of car.

Which ID proof will be required at the time of delivery of the car?
The same ID proof as mentioned in the application form will be required at the time of delivery

Can an applicant apply for more than 1 car?
Yes an applicant can apply for more than one car but only one car can be applied for against one application form

When can the booking forms be submitted?
The booking forms can be submitted at any of the designated booking center locations from 9th April to 25th April. The booking can also be done online in the same period

Which documents need to be submitted at the time of Submission of form?
Along with the form, the applicant/applicant needs to submit the following documents:
1. The Payment Instrument (Cheque/DD)
2. Cancelled Cheque (This will ensure faster refund to you)
3. ID Proof
4. Form 60/61 if Pan card not available.
No documents are required for online booking but need to be submitted when asked for by Tata Motors

What is the booking amount?
The booking amount is as per variant selected: Nano:Rs. 95,000; Nano CX: Rs. 1,20.000 Nano LX: Rs. 1,40,000

How do I make the payment of booking amount in case of Physical Form Submission?
You need to submit the form and the payment for the booking amount by Pay order or Demand Draft drawn up in favor of Tata Motors Limited.-A/c Tata Nano and payable locally.
You must give the following details behind the payment instrument
1. Form UIN
2. Applicant Name
3. Contact No.

What is UIN?
Unique Identification Number which is unique for each application form

How do I make the payment of booking amount in case of Online Form Submission?
The applicant will be directed to the payment gateway after filling up all details in the booking form. The payment will be made through net banking. The Top 34 banks of the country are connected through netbanking. All the required instructions will be given to him at the time of making the payment.

Do I need to pay the booking amount and Form MRP separately in case of online form submission?
No. The amount to be transferred through net banking in case of online applications will be Booking Amount + Form MRP

Can booking amount be financed?
Yes. Booking amount finance would be available at the dealerships through Tata Motors preferred financiers at competitive rates.

How much deposit/downpayment do I need to get a finance on the booking amount?
This depends on the financer you choose. But for TML preferred financer you need a sum of around 3000-3500 Rs.

What is the minimum amount of money required to do a booking?
You can get your booking financed by any of TML preferred financiers by paying a sum of around 3000-3500 as upfront interest

Are there any special conditions when booking is financed by preferred financiers?
Yes. In case the booking is financed by preferred financiers the refund would be sent to the financier. Also the applicant needs to have an NOC from the financier for taking delivery also.

What is the proof of booking that the applicant retains in case of Physical Form?
Each applicant has to retain the customer copy of the booking form duly acknowledge by SBI.(stamp, sign and date).

What is the proof of booking that the applicant retains in case of Online Form?
After the applicant successfully submits the form and makes the payment, an acknowledgement slip will be generated which will have the Unique Identification number and all the form details. This page is the proof of his booking. The link to this page will also be sent to the applicant through an automatic generated email. The applicant can take the print out of this page. The applicant should keep it very carefully as he needs to produce it at the time of delivery or cancellation.

Can an Application be rejected or invalid?
Yes. The application can be rejected in any of the following cases:-
1. Incomplete Forms Fields not completed
2.Incorrect Data The details provided are incorrect
3.Illegible Forms
The details provided are illegible
4. Short Payment / Cheque Bounce.
The booking amount will be refunded except for the cases of bounced cheque.

How will the allotments be done?
All the valid applications will be considered for allotment. The allotments will be done through a process using a computerized random number generation. This would be done in presence of a panel of observers.

What should an applicant do if he does not receive the allotment letter even after 15 days of the date of announcement of allotment?
The applicant should first get the docket no. of his dispatch from the site www.tatanano.com or from TML Call centre at 020-66495678. Then, using the docket no. he/she can track the courier. If still there is a problem, he should register his complaint at the call centre.

When will the refund process start?
The refund process to non allotted applicants will start 60 days after the date of announcement of allotments.

How will I get a refund if I am not selected?
Refund will happen mainly through 2 mediums-
1) Electronic mode- The applicants account will be automatically credited through the electronic mode (ECS/NEFT) in case he has provided the MICR code of his account branch and his branch has the facility available
2) Cheque- In the rest of the cases cheque will be dispatched to the address provided by the applicant

What should I do if I dont get my refund in 7 days post announcement of allocation?

Yes. If the refund is delayed beyond 90 days after booking week Tata would pay interest from 90th day.

For any refund related grievances/complaints, what should the applicant do?
The applicant can call the SBI call centre and register his complaint. This would be settled through a laid down customer grievance process.

How will an applicant know about the delivery period of his car?
The tentative delivery period will be mentioned in the allotment letter sent to the successful applicants. When the vehicle is dispatched, the applicant will receive a call/SMS from Tata Motors informing him about the dispatch.

Can the dealership be approached to know about the delivery period of the car?
Yes. The applicant can know real time information from the dealership he has selected. The applicant will also be intimated by the dealer as soon as his vehicle is received at the Dealership.

Do I need to make any balance payment after paying the booking amount?
The applicant would be submitting part of the ex-showroom price as the booking amount. The difference between the on road price (ex showroom + insurance + registration) of the city and the booking amount submitted is the balance payment. The information regarding the balance payment amount can be obtained from the dealership / tatanano website

When will applicant have to make the balance payment?
Applicant should make the balance payment to the dealership before the intimated delivery period starts. In no case the payment should be received by dealer beyond 10 days of the receipt of the car, failing which the booking will be considered cancelled.

What is the mode of payment for the balance payment?
This payment can be through a cheque/DD drawn in favour of the dealership selected in the application form.

Will the allotted applicant get any interest on the booking amount?
There is no interest payable. The applicant is being protected for price till his delivery.

What all documents does the applicant need to carry with him when he goes for collecting his car from the dealership?
The applicant needs to carry with him the following documents-
1) The allotment letter
2) The applicants Acknowledgement receipt
3) PAN Card
4) ID Proof as mentioned in the application form

In case of delivery related queries or dispute or complaints, what should an applicant do?
The applicant can call Tata Motors call centre no. 020-66495678 and register his grievance.

How can an applicant retain his booking for Tata Nano?
An applicant can retain his booking by checking the relevant column in the Nano booking form. TML will retain the booking amount for all such applicants and communication to this effect will be sent to them post allotment.

What would be the period of delivery for the retained booking?
TML will run the random number generation process for all the retained bookings separately, based on which letters will be sent to all the retainers informing them about the tentative period of the delivery of the vehicle.

Will there be any interest paid on the retained booking?
Yes. All the retained booking will earn interest payment starting from the date of announcement of allotment.

How can I cancel the booking?
The process for cancellation of retained booking is same as in case of allottees. You can register the request for cancellation at TML call centre and submit the relevant documents at TML Dealership. Booking will be cancelled upon receipt of the same at TML HQ.

Are there cancellation charges applicable on retained booking cancellation?
If the booking is cancelled within 30 days of announcement of allotment, there will be no cancellation charges applicable. Beyond that, cancellations would attract administrative charges of Rs. 2999/- and the net amount will be refunded.

How will the refund be processed in case of cancellation?
Refund of the booking amount will be made to the account number mentioned in the booking form post deduction of the cancellation charges.

Can an applicant cancel his booking?
Only successful applicants can cancel their booking before delivery of the car. The applicant can cancel anytime before the delivery window starts.

If the booking is cancelled within 30 days of announcement of allotment, there will be no cancellation charges applicable. Beyond that, cancellations would attract administrative charges of Rs. 2999/- and the net amount will be refunded.

What is the process for cancellation?
The applicant will register his cancellation request at the call centre. Then he would submit all the documents (acknowledgment slip + allotment letter) in original at the dealership. A cancellation form also needs to be submitted at the dealership.On verification of all by TML the refund would be processed within 15 working days.

Applicant is not allowed to edit any information. Any request would be accepted at the sole discretion of Tata Motors.

Will Interest need to be paid to the financier at the time of booking?
Yes, in case the booking is financed, 3 months Interest with Processing Charges of the Financier, needs to be paid.

When do I make the balance payment apart from the booking amount already paid?
Selected dealer will contact you when the car is ready for dispatch. You have to make balance payment within 10 days of receiving this communication.

What will happen if the balance payment is not paid within 10 days of receiving delivery communication from dealership?
Booking is considered cancelled

Will the interest rate on retained amount provided by TML depend on market ups and down?
No - Fixed Rate will be provided

Which document will be provided to the customer indicating the interest on the retention amount?
Letter of Intent will be given to the retained customer with the Interest rate and period mentioned in the letter

How will the customer pay for the booking form?
Cash in case of Physical Form. In case of Online Form- the amount of the form will be paid along with the booking amount using net banking.

Yes, the prices differ for Solid and Metallic Colours.
